The northern tip of Vancouver Island can rightly claim to offer the best cold water diving in the world. I was fortunate to visit there in September 2009 and I spent a week diving the area around Browning Pass. The strong currents and nutrient-rich water feed a dazzling array of marine life as colourful as any tropical reef. Some of this life is similar to what we find around the UK but is usually larger and more plentiful. With stunning above water scenery as well, this really is a photographers' paradise. The southern tip of the island also offers very good diving, particularly for sea lions and giant wolf eels. I can recommend Ogden Point Diving for anyone staying in the Victoria area. |
